Square Numbers Card Deck — Print at Home, Two Ways (Ages 5–9)

Seven times seven is forty-nine. Here it is: forty-nine dots, in a square, in color.

Each card shows a square number as what it really is, rows of colored dots exactly as many as there are in a row. Flip it over and the answer is on the back. Children stop memorizing a chant and start seeing why 12 × 12 is 144: it's one hundred, four tens and four, and the colors show every part.
